Break Up – Kelli Scarr (Free Download)
As the new season approaches, we’re on a rigorous quest to find the top albums that are getting us ready for autumn. Spoiler alert: Brooklyn’s Kelli Scarr will be on that list. The calming melodies found in Kelli Scarr‘s debut LP, Pieces, will undoubtedly make the changing of the leaves that much prettier. With brutally honest lyrics, there’s an overall somber tone to her songs. The feelings conjured up by Scarr’s music, however depressing they may be at times, are also undeniably tranquil.
Scarr just announced her plans for the fall, which include a tour date with Moby in Woodstock, New York, as well as a trip to the west coast. Below is a preview of her recent collaboration with Moby in NPR’s Project Song, a series that forces musicians to write a new song in just two days.
Tour Dates:
Sept. 25 – Woodstock, NY – Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary Benefit w/ Moby
Oct. 7 – New York, NY – Joe’s Pub
Nov. 2 – San Diego, CA – Park Gallery
