Whether or not the calendar officially says so, summer has arrived (at least I thought so until I walked out the door this morning).  With the sweaty subway trips and blasting air conditioners comes the opening night of Celebrate Brooklyn’s annual concert series hosted at the Prospect Park Bandshell.  This Tuesday, reggae legend Jimmy Cliff will grace the stage, but the amazing shows don’t end there as Wilco, The Head & The Heart, Hot Chip, Laura Marling, Childish Gambino, Sigur Rós, and M. Ward will also be playing the Bandshell throughout the summer.  But let’s not get ahead of ourselves!  This week, Kopecky Family Band, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, 2:54, and The Walkmen all have shows in either Manhattan or Brooklyn.  Go out and catch a show.

Thanks for checking out our suggested New York City indie concerts list!  We won’t list everything that’s going on — just a short collection of great shows happening in our city that you shouldn’t miss this week.  And to make it as easy for you as possible, you can listen to all the bands and sometimes get some free MP3s!
