While most of the efforts of this team have been solo, just a couple weeks ago, we witnessed the first collaboration between the Brooklyn-dwelling YouTube celebs and an established rock band.
Weezer was the guinea pig for the entertainment outlet, who, according to logic, will continue to pair up with musicians, creating the opportunity for acts to have sure-fire viral videos. It’s about damn time that the music industry caught onto this trend! With acts like OK Go successfully attempting to reach a broader fan base by ‘going viral,’ this method is likely to become a much larger part of music marketing.
Will Auto-Tune The News become the new Daytrotter? This is something to seriously consider. If the Gregory family (three brothers and a wife) reaches out to the indie community, I foresee some very unique opportunities for the up-and-coming acts of the world. Indie + auto-tune + YouTube? Word.
