Yesterday, we had Michael Beliveau of California band, Crash Kings, answer our questions via Facebook.  Not only that but he had a crack at some questions from our Facebook fans at the same time.  Find out about his relationship with Tony, recording without guitar, and working with producer Dave Sardy.

1. You’ve said that nature is a huge inspiration for your music and how you write. Is there any place in particular that you’ve found to be good for creation, either by being in the actual place or remembering a time when you were there?
2. What are you most excited for in 2011? Where can we expect to see you guys and hear your music?
3. You’ve recently released the video for “Non Believer”. Could you tell us a little more about that? Where is was filmed, how you decided on the theme of the video, who you worked with, etc.?
4. Working with family can sometimes spell disaster, but you guys seem to pull it off way better than most. Where do you find that having siblings in the band works to your advantage and where do you find it to make things a bit more difficult.
5. Your sound is labeled as “guitar-driven rock without the guitar.” Was the omission of the guitar from your lineup a conscious decision or was it maybe a rehearsal happenstance where you realized you had a fully formed sound without one?
6. How did it feel to be the first U.S. band for producer Dave Sardy to work with after a seven year stretch? Clearly he had faith in what he heard from you. What was it like to be associated with his comeback?
7. Being native Bostonians, were there any attempts to “raise the band” so to speak in NY or somewhere else on the east coast, or was there a connection with Los Angeles that just felt right for what you were trying to do?
