It’s been a couple of years, but Seattle’s ings has returned with some jams on things like being a person and the shortness of life among other equally important truths. The first single from her new EP speaks to self-respect in the form of a colorfully illustrative video. Everything ings has done feels meticulously crafted with careful hands, and it seems the new material is no different. Painted bodies perform gentle choreography in a field, and close ups of ings as a rare bird find her being gently yet brutally honest, “I will not be your afterthought, I will not/you gotta go, you gotta go now.” Inspired by artists like The Beach Boys, Feist, and Blake Mills, ings’ new EP is a collection of “lullaby rock songs.” Afterthought is out April 1 — watch the video for the title track above.
