I’M LEAVING FOR EUROPE

EUROPE IM LEAVING FOR EUROPE

Hey there!  I am in quite the mood as exactly 48 hours from now, I will be on a Virgin Atlantic flight to London.  While I have a couple meetings over there, it’s really just a fun trip I’m taking with my friend, exploring parts of Europe I’ve never been and returning to places where my friends and family live.  Why am I writing this?  Well, I’d love to see if anyone had suggestions for my travels.  Places to see, bands to check out at the various spots, music to load into my iPod, movies to watch, etc.  I’m not really looking for advice about packing light and avoid the overweight bag charge (though this will inevitably happen).

The trip starts in London, where I’ll be seeing Noah & The Whale on May 16th, then Foster The People on May 17th.  Still looking for shows on the 18th, 19th, and 20th!  After London, I’m heading to Edinburgh for a few days. Then, the most exciting leg of my journey.

Americans aren’t the only people in the world that know how to throw a kick ass music festival.  In fact, Spain is known for hosting one of the world’s wildest music festivals.  It’s called Primavera Sound, and I’m going.  My friends Alaina and Patrick are playing, as are James Blake, Belle & Sebastian, Animal Collective, Cults, Field Music, Fleet Foxes, Girl Talk, Odd Future, Rubik, Sufjan Stevens, The National, tUnE-yArDs, Twin Shadow, and more.  Who do you think I need to check out and snap some photos of?

After the fest, I’m heading to an Air Force base close to Venice to visit my cousins.  I’ll force them to go out with me to glorious dinners of northern Italian fare and full bodied wine.

While I’m gone, I will post some updates of my travels, all music related, as well as keep my Twitter (@thewildhoneypie) updated.  The Wild Honey Pie has obviously become about more than just me, so expect tons of new music suggestions, original videos, and album reviews from Lauren, Hannah, Kim, Ben, and the rest of the gang.  I’ll be back to my normal article writing form in a few weeks when I return.  Peace!
