LA-based songstress Janessa Evrist’s music is both sleek and idiosyncratic, coming across like Joanna Newsom taking lead vocal over a Jessie Ware production. Evrist has proven herself to be an anomaly of sorts amongst the throngs of LA songwriters who buckle under the constant demand for superficial, analogous content. She admittedly spurns surface level music in favor of songs that are honest, imbued with messages of empowerment and characterized by electro-tinged soundscapes and resplendent dream pop melodies. Her latest single “Show Me Something,” doubles as both a yearning love song and an incantation for the music industry to offer up something of substance. We have the pleasure of premiering the songs accompanying video, which sets Evrist’s passionate call for deeper connectivity against expansive wilderness of Joshua Tree.
