Though released a year ago, “Bud” by Glaswegian female duo Honeyblood is still just as infectious. The strength of this lo-fi “crunch pop” piece lies in its unrelentingly chill ambiance. Just like the words of the chorus (“nip it in the bud!”) it’s marked by restraint — never fully reaching an explosion of energy, the latent zest lingers just below the surface, still potent and discernible. Readers in the UK can see Honeyblood rock stages at festivals across the country this summer. The rest of us can still enjoy their music, including newer tunes, over on their Soundcloud.
