I’ve quickly become a big fan of everything about Portland-based artist Sabrina. Her 2010 LP, The Hawk & The Hunter is absolutely sensational. The fun-loving pop songs found on that release are an instant injection of bright optimism and fun. That was, however, The Hawk & The Hunter.
With her new single, “The Fight”, we’re shown a very different side of Sabrina Velazquez. The insecurities in the song’s lyrics and sinister instrumentation display someone far more vulnerable. Utilizing a very ominous key and song structure, she seems to be fighting a very difficult battle of self-doubt.
It’s a great song and it’s free, so what do you have to lose! Steam and download above.
