Foreign/National’s new single is a veritable breeze in sultry rhythms and intentionally sparse instrumentation. The Melbourne five-piece’s output has been plentiful in a short amount of time, with each song producing a differing take on their casually cool sound. “Pacific Cruise” brings in Motown flavors to their polished fuzz-pop. The understated ferocity of the lyrics hits home in time with the fiery saxophone solo, all succumbing once again to that demure sway. It’s hard not to sink into the slinking bassline and let those whispered vocals float into your musical memory.
