Social media platforms are everywhere we turn, and new ones are popping up constantly. Most people have a select few, and only those few, that they use regularly. Taking this into consideration, we’ve decided to transition the #FF features from simply including Twitter, into a broader article, now titled #Follow. Twitter users need not fear though, as we’ll continue to include the best Tweeters in the music scene. However, we feel it’s also important to include other mainstream social media platforms –Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr being just a few examples. We’ll now be able to reach a wider range of users and include more artists — it’s a win-win for everyone. We hope you guys enjoy the new #Follow articles and find them useful in staying connected.

Starting out the new #Follow feature is Portland’s psych-pop group, Unknown Mortal Orchestra. After their self-titled debut LP release last year, UMO has been busy touring all over the place while still making time to use Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to keep fans in the loop. Check out our favourite posts by UMO and see for yourself why we love to #Follow them.

FACEBOOK

Facebook is my primary source for keeping up-to-date with my favourite bands. Because most of them link their other social networking accounts to Facebook into a direct feed, even if you don’t have Twitter, Instagram, etc, you can still view all of the posts in one convenient location. Unknown Mortal Orchestra does that and also utilizes tabs like BandPage. Basically, it’s everything you would find on a band’s website, but since you’re already on Facebook, why leave?

Artfully edited photos, including a plethora of glorious landscapes and studio shots, makes UMO one of my favourite Instagrammers. Check out some of my faves, and extra props to whomever can (finally) get them to release what app they use to edit!
