THE HEREAFTER

Shuffle Through The Wild Honey Pie

Looking for an incredibly spunky indie band that will lift up your spirits, and turn your frown upside down (did I really just say that)? If not, move on. If you answered yes, then the hereafter are the band for you. With one pop jingle after the next, their self-titled album happens to be their strongest (in my opinion). I’m not quite sure what it is about theirannoyingly happy (yet unhappy at the same time) tunes that makes me want to cover my ears and dance at the same time. It’s weird, and VERY hard to explain.

You have to admit, the lead singer (John Elliot) is talented, and has a knack for creating smooth vocals that fit well with the quirky sound effects and instruments used throughout the album. There are two songs on this record that REALLY stick out to me. “Musical Chairs” and “My Cousin’s Canoe” are catchy, yet could definitely use some work when it comes to meaningful lyrics. Nice concepts though, and definitely worth a listen. Enjoy!
