Cry – One for the Team Cry – One for the Team
Hard for You – One for the Team Hard for You – One for the Team
Last week, my buddy Chris Kluis told me about a band from Minneapolis/Chicago called One for the Team, and he happens to be friendly with them. He sent me the link to their MySpace, so my critique was swiftly under way. I was instantly drawn to their male/female mix of vocals, which has always been selling point in a band for me. I can honestly say I listened to each of their songs about 3 times before I could write about it because it’s tough to give them the press they deserve in a condensed article. I’ll do my best.
Currently on a US tour, these guys are bound to make a name for themselves with their glorified indie guitar-led rock. While harmonies are definitely their strong suit, they don’t live and die by that single asset of their music. The lyrics are emotional without being emo whatsoever; it’s something that makes me think that this band is sort of an indie band for the grown-up emo fan. The more I listen to their stuff the more I enjoy it, so give them a shot. Check out these MP3s below, head to their MySpace page (click here), or buy their first album on iTunes (click here). More to come on this dynamic foursome.
