Fang Island (@fangisland) headlined one of the best shows I’ve seen all year, a mixture of intense math rock, progressive guitar rock, and pop that never let up. With brilliant harmonies, guitar hero riffs, and the energy of a fusion reactor, Fang Island easily makes my list of must-see live acts. On a side note, this show marked the very first time that guitarist/vocalist Jason Bartell ever crowd surfed.
Also on the lineup was Irish instrumental rock trio, Adebisi Shank (@adebisishank). Their performance was their very first in NYC, and will most definitely not be their last. Their stage presence is thrilling to watch, along with their sound of hardcore meets math rock style of craziness.
Infinity Shred (@infinity_shred) opened the show with space age electronic anthems that are at once dark but hopeful. Some would describe their songs as spiritual, including many members of the audience who raised their hands into the air to bask in the glow of the Post-Italo future shredders vibe.
