PAPERPLAIN [INTERVIEW]

Shuffle Through The Wild Honey Pie

London-based Paperplain, aka Helen Page, took the time to answer some questions we sent her way recently. She’s super talented, and has TONS of potential. Below is the interview.

the WILD honey pie: First off, we want to thank you for answering our questions. Your music has a very raw and pure sound. How do you achieve this?
Paperplain: I record using an 8 track which is the key thing in creating that raw sound.

the WILD honey pie: As far as we can tell, you have yet to release a full-length album. Are you working on one? What’s the process like?
Paperplain: Yes, Entering Pale Town is a mini-album.
I’m not currently working with a full length album in mind, but I do have new songs ready to record.

the WILD honey pie: Any plans to do extensive touring?
Paperplain: A few shows here and there around the UK is all that’s lined up for now. Maybe something will come along later in the year though.

the WILD honey pie: We obviously love the music coming out of London right now, including yours. If you had to choose your favorite talent from London at the moment, who would it be?
Paperplain: That’s a tricky one, I don’t know where the musicians I like hail from.
Windmill is by far the best thing I’ve heard come out of the London music scene recently.

the WILD honey pie: You are gifted when it comes to playing the guitar. What other talents do you have? Anything out of the ordinary?
Paperplain: Thank you very much! No strange talents here I’m afraid.
I’m pretty good at Battlefield 1943 though.

the WILD honey pie: If a movie was being made about you and your music career, who would you choose to portray you?
Paperplain: Probably Will Smith. We have a lot in common – Mentally and Physically.

the WILD honey pie: What’s the best album you purchased recently?
Paperplain: I got the ‘Where the Wild Thing Are’ soundtrack Album by Karen O for Christmas. It’s really brilliant.

the WILD honey pie: A lot of our readers are American. What advice do you have for them if they ever make it to London? Do you think the music scene is vastly different than the US in the UK?
Paperplain: Having never been to America – I’m not sure what the differences in the music scene are between here and there. If you’re ever here though – be sure to get a Ben’s Cookie from Covent Garden.

the WILD honey pie: Thanks again for taking the time to talk to us. Last question. In an ideal world, where are you five years from now musically?
Paperplain: It’s been my pleasure.
I’m not sure where I want to be in 5 years. I’m just going to see where the time takes me.
