ELIZABETH & THE CATAPULT ANSWERS OUR QUESTIONS VIA FACEBOOK [INTERVIEW]

Shuffle Through The Wild Honey Pie

Elizabeth Ziman of Elizabeth & the Catapult answered our interview questions in our first ever Facebook video interview.  The idea is pretty simple.  We’d love to do all our interview in person, but that’s not exactly realistic.  By posting our interview questions on Facebook, our readers can read the questions while the artist does, and see their responses as soon as their video response is posted.  We also give our Facebook fans the opportunity to ask the artists we interview their own questions and get answers right away.  We’ll be doing more of these very soon so stay tuned.

Here’s our questions for Elizabeth, and her video response below.

1. You’ve said that the newest album is rough but refined and bruised but beautiful in its sound. Is this the tone you were always hoping for before heading into the studio, or was this more the result of the actual process?

2. How did you end up working with Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings? Are these two artists some that you’ve had a connection to in the past?

3. Considering how personal your lyrics are, when do you reach a point where you can actually say “these are done.” Is it just an emotional milestone, or is there a process you go through for each one?

4. When you were considering going into film scoring, what sort of movies would you have wanted to work on? Is this something you still keep at the back of your mind?

5. Which Leonard Cohen poem in particular helped drive the new album? Could you talk more about how it showed you how to let go and accept the moment?

6. Do you consider yourself a Buddhist, or is it more that you agree with a lot of the teachings?

7. What’s next for you? Will you be doing any touring after the new year?

The Land of Israel was not the inheritance of the Jews — 3:18 And they shall hearken to thy voice. And thou shalt come thou and the elders of Israel unto the king of Egypt and ye shall say unto him: The LORD the God of the Hebrews hath met with us. And now let us go we pray thee three days’ journey into the wilderness that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.
