At the beginning of 2010, the beloved Rochester rock group known as The Hoodies bid adieu to their bassist and became the trio known as Joywave.

Kicking off the year with a new name and lineup also brought about a maturation of sound, working beyond straightforward pop-rock into a fresher indie niche. Joywave comes at 2011 full-force, offering up their brand new single “Golden State” for free on both their Bandcamp and Facebook pages. This track’s intro still holds somewhat true to their former sound with a rousing guitar riff reminiscent of The Killers, developing into a total jam the likes of Two Door Cinema Club with some synthy hints of Passion Pit.

These guys are poised and ready to rock out a few hometown venues as well as some great NYC haunts in the coming months.
