Giant Hands – Dog & Panther (Free Download / Buy What Happened)
Dog & Panther has taken over my life. Their 2010 debut LP, What Happened, is a polished lovefest of an album, 10 track composed to near perfection. Before I post a full review of that album, I wanted to give you a quick update on the Michigan-based band. They recently released a free track entitled “Giant Hands” on their BandCamp. While the track is more of the same well-crafted songmanship that can be expected from these guys, it also shows a quickly maturing group with a largely unmatched ability to convey a story through lyrics and original ambient sounds.

“Giant Hands” will most likely remind you of Ben Gibbard’s efforts with Death Cab for Cutie (@dcfc) and The Postal Service, yet there is no denying their knack for skillfully constructing a dynamic indie pop song. Just watch the video below which depicts the band’s recording process for their latest single. It’s freaking amazing to see a band step out of the confines of traditional instrumentation and prerecorded effects, and integrate all sorts of original sounds in a way that can filly immerse a listener.
Download for free above, and watch out for a review of their full length. You’re welcome.
