Devendra Banhart brought his charm and experimental sounds to Rough Trade in support of his new album Ape In Pink Marble. His shows are incredibly entertaining and unique, as Banhart generally has the demeanor of a sarcastic stand-up comic. He’s constantly cracking jokes about his own music, and the audience loves every minute. He began the show by taking requests, which the crowd screamed towards the stage. After a brief session with just him and his guitar, his band took the stage and played some of their incredible rock songs like “Golden Girls” and, of course, his most popular, “Baby.” His sound has a way of affecting the audience, and it was simply an amazing show.
