Never before have I had so much trouble describing what sort of music a certain musician plays. King Charles, an artist I recently saw perform live, mixes so many different genres that there really is no way of defining him. I’ll do my best though.

He manages to combine spoken, folk, and rock vocals, forming a “freak folk” sound. He’s a demon on the guitar, and is amazing at interacting with the crowd. King Charles is the perfect example of performers loving what they do. As they play, each person’s unique personality shines through.

Though I don’t believe this band is for everyone, I see them coming on strong in the indie scene in the upcoming year, especially once they release a full-length album showcasing their talents. They grow on you quite a bit after you listen to a few of their tracks (to the point where you can’t get the songs out of your head).
