In Marina we trust! Oh yes, that’s right! The beautiful breakout musician from Wales was in New York just before her trip to Austin for SXSW, and succeeded in capturing the attention and hearts of the entire audience on this particular night at The Bell House. Just a warning, this review is going to be 100% praise of the Welsh angel.
Yeah, I may have a slight crush right now. Who wouldn’t though. Marina and the Diamonds were just as magnificent live as on their (her) stellar debut album, The Family Jewels. The album is chock full of pop hits that are destined to shoot Marina into the national limelight. She’s got a unique swagger and a stage presence to match her edgy songs.
Marina marched around the stage filled with an immense amount of confidence. In her short conversations with the crowd, she expressed how happy she was to finally be making the trip to the US of A, as well as how much she appreciated the support of her fans. She was basking in the glory of her fan’s love of both her music and her as a person. She’s a real sweetheart. Did I just say that?
Songs like Mowgli’s Road, I Am Not a Robot, Hollywood, and Obsessions were magnificent. Her band let the stage for her live rendition of Obsessions, and she took to the keyboard to show just how diverse her talents are. Unlike so many pop stars today, she’s got REAL musical talent, writing all her own songs and playing an instrument (pretty strange for a pop singer these days!). Below are some of her upcoming live dates, so if she’s coming to a town near you, definitely buy tickets and bask in the glory that is Marina and the Diamonds.
