HORSE FEATHERS AT HOXTON SQUARE BAR

Shuffle Through The Wild Honey Pie

Last week I saw Horse Feathers at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen in London. The place is a great venus for small gigs, offering a very intimate setting for quieter music (though it’d be great for any genre).

Due to a power failure, the lights weren’t fully functioning, so the band strung Christmas lights around items on stage, and created a very cool ambiance. Horse Feathers is an intriguing band from Oregon that plays a wide variety of instruments (violin, bass, banjo, guitar, mandolin, and musical saw). This concert was the first time I saw a musical saw being played in my life!

Anyways, the gig was good! These guys (and girl) are very talented, and provide audiences with tranquil folk music. I especially enjoyed the lead singer’s calm, yet profound vocals that carried well throughout the crowd. In a really unique finally, the band came out into the audience, and set up shop right in the middle of everyone. They then performed two more songs, to everyone’s delight. Here’s a couple of live tracks I found of the band.
