Catherine A.D., the London based songwriter who has earned praise from everyone from Courtney Love (for her “gorgeous, sick, and beautiful” voice) to David Gilmour (who has invited her to open up for him on tour), is releasing her new EP, Skeleton Songs. Currently, the only release that Catherine has for sale is the Carry Your Heart EP, which NME hailed as “kooky, spooky, and very good”.

As a young girl, Catherine was fascinated with artists as diverse as Nirvana and The Carpenters; after this musical background, it seems fitting that Catherine’s music is both dark and soulful and melodic and happy at times. Catherine started playing music at age 14 by picking up a guitar attached to a distortion pedal. Later, she taught herself to play mandolin, banjo, and accordion as well as the guitar. Using the music of her inspirations, singer-songwriters such as Nick Cave, Rufus Wainwright, and Fiona Apple, Catherine began to craft her strange and wonderful music.

On the Skeleton Songs EP, the songs are recorded as bare-boned and simple, and capture the essence of Catherine’s songwriting and her message. For now, without the flashy studio production, Skeleton Songs shows the remarkable power and talent of Catherine A.D. For more information about Catherine go to www.catherinead.com.
