Here’s a pretty funny story I couldn’t help but write about. LA-based electro pop band Cassettes Won’t Listen were set to release a brand new LP entitled KEVINSPACEY on June 21 when the actor himself served them a cease and desist order. Lead man Jason Drake was quick to think and changed the title to EVINSPACEY, thus avoiding the situation. If that were me, though, I probably would have done everything in my power to get Mr. Spacey to one of my shows or maybe just taken him to court in an attempt to meet the legend.
As much as this whole fiasco helped get the band some attention, their music is actually a super impressive blend of electronic beats and indie pop. Cassettes Won’t Listen are heading to New York later this month with a date scheduled at The Rock Shop in Brooklyn on May 17th after which they’ll be heading back to LA for a gig at The Echo, the only venue I’ve ever been to there.
