Since the very first time we heard New Zealand’s pride and joy, Brooke Fraser, we simply can’t get enough of her! To our excitement, Brooke has released a charming new video for her single “Betty,” off the album Flags.
Using one of the more narrative-based songs off the album, she spins the tale of a girl named Betty who insists on shutting herself off from the world. Truly relating to anyone with insecurities, Brooke reassures with the lines, “You’ve got your scars and you’ve got your birthmarks/ you’ve got your secrets, you’ve got your regrets, darling we all do.” In the video, Brooke travels through a whimsical floral paradise filled with magical paper cranes, sweetly beckoning Betty to see the beauty in the world and show her true colors.
Aside from her uplifting music, Brooke is also an admirably charitable artist, working with World Vision since 2001. Her most recent focus has been raising money through mycharity: water, and through her own division of the site, Brooke exceeded her goal to raise $50,000! With the help of so many generous donations, it is guaranteed that a minimum of 2500 people in developing nations will have long-term clean water in 2011. Brooke Fraser’s future is beyond bright, and it is so amazing to see her make sure many others are granted that same outlook.
