Friday night at Metro brought an excited crowd of fans to see two California punk rock bands, Best Coast and Lovely Bad Things. The evening was opened by Lovely Bad Things, and their set featured songs from their 2015 release, Space Waste and Always Lazy, as well as songs from their 2012 and 2013 albums, The Late Great Whatever and New Ghost/Old Waves.

Following the high-energy openers, Best Coast took to the stage instrumentally for a few moments then singer/songwriter, Bethany Cosentino, appeared last and delved energetically into her dreamy, simple sound. Guitarist Bobb Bruno acted as Cosentino’s right hand man, and provided the band with a soulful 60s beach rock sound. Songs from their recently released album California Nights were played throughout the evening, and the night ended with their one song encore of “Boyfriend”, with the crowd still hungry for more.
