This past Friday night, Brooklyn welcomed Beirut, Sharon Van Etten, Yellow Ostrich, and others for the beginning of Northside Festival in a vacant McCarren Park lot. The makeshift venue wasn’t exactly the best place to see/listen to Beirut, but the band’s Eastern European-inspired tunes were nonetheless as beautiful as always.
Zach Condon and company began to play just as the sun set behind the Manhattan skyline, making for an absolutely stunning start to their set. They played nearly every song I could have hoped for: “Postcards From Italy”, “Scenic World”, “Elephant Gun”, as well as their recently released gem, “East Harlem” which Condon dedicated to the people that were there to see him in Brooklyn a few years ago.
Their set was filled with so many of their greats and put a smile on nearly face in the crowd. Check photos and videos below!
