“Glam Infused Garage Rock” is how Robot Elephant Records describes them.

Aquarius Records adds, “…musically wiser big brother to the current crop of lo-fi garage poppers like Thee Oh Sees and the Sic Alps and Ty Segall.” One listen and there’s no mistaking the throwback vibe these guys deliver. I almost feel as though I’ve been flung into the memorable days of the seventies, at a time when the younger generation spent all summer driving around, hanging with friends, getting high and checking out the bands that began infusing a more punk sound into their psychedelic garage rock.

The project began in Memphis, TN when front man, Matthew Melton, joined forces with a member from the disbanded Lost Sounds, becoming the duo known as Bare Wires. In 2006, Melton spontaneously packed his bags and headed for San Francisco, CA, ending up in Oakland where he felt more at home.  Once Fletch and Nathan joined the band, things really began to take off given the amazing chemistry they share in both song-writing and live performances.

Their catchy guitar-heavy sound packs a lot of fuzz and crunch, with loosely sung hooks, plenty of reverb and steady drum beats. This is music that will get stuck in your head – and you’ll love it. It’s totally danceable, but equally chill-worthy at times. Their debut album, Artificial Clouds was released in 2010 and features Erin Emslie of Hunx and His Punx on drums. Seeking Love followed this album, impressively just a couple months later, and landed them a deal with Castle Face Records. “Don’t Ever Change”, the single off of their latest LP, Cheap Perfume, is also stellar and set to come out soon.

SXSW has featured them in 2010 and again in 2011 during their current tour, which is still going on, so make sure to check out the tail end of it if you’re in the area.
