Avi Buffalo (@avibuffalo), one of my favourite budding bands, has just released a new single and B-side track. There’s no word as to whether these songs are the precursor for a future EP/LP, but given their quality, I certainly hope so. To ease the sting of waiting, I’ve even reverted back to their wonderful self-titled album, which they put out last spring.

Both new songs feature Avi Zahner-Isenberg’s signature raspy-falsetto laid over ultra-melodic guitars and plenty of synth to blend the sounds together. Though the first track, “How Come”, has a great lo-fi sound, I’m partial to the upbeat groove of “Good I’m Wishing”, which feels more cohesive with their previous work. Regardless, both are solid recordings and hopefully an indication of where Avi Buffalo is headed.
