The following article was written by Alyson Greenfield:
A few days ago I was at a friend’s house looking at/playing a bunch of her instruments and she mentioned she had an autoharp. My eyes lit up. ”An autoharp!?? I have been wanting one of those! I’ve even been looking on Craigslist and eBay!”
She said, “Yeah, I don’t really play it. It’s really hard to tune.” She broke out the suitcase which held the autoharp and I took it out and placed it on the floor. I dropped down to my knees and began to strum. Sure, half of the strings were out of tune, but there were a few that actually sounded okay. She let me take the beauty home and I smiled as I walked to the train that evening.
When I got home I wrote this song and got to try it out at my recent show at The Studio at Webster Hall with Beatboxer Chesney Snow (because clearly an autoharp and and a beatboxer were meant to go together)! The song is about traveling on a rope of stars and previously living in a dollhouse. Aw yeah.
