A foal is a young horse that is under the age of one. Whle Foals are in their 6th year of existence as a music band, they might really only be in the “foal” stages of stardom. When 2010 is all said and done, the music world will look back on Foals as one of the bands that made the biggest “splash” on to the scene. How can prognosticate such an accomplishment, you ask? Their track, Spanish Sahara, leaked its way on to Sirius XMU station and his been widely popular over the small sample size. That track is a microcosm for their upcoming album Total Life Forever, which neatly sums up the band’s LP in to 6 and half minutes.

Very rhythmic riffs with simultaneous moments of unique sounding beats, coupled with an infusion timely risks and soaring vocals from front-man Yannis Philippakis make them an intriguing band to watch. The five man British group will release their 2nd full-length studio album on May 11th in the United States on the Sub Pop label (and Sub Pop has been well-known for signing such bands as The Postal Service, Fleet Foxes, No Age, The Shins and even popularizing the New Zealand folk duo, Flight of the Conchords). Officially, their next single, This Orient, was released today as a preview to their upcoming album release date next week. Watch out for Foals in May!
