Not only will Arcade Fire be headlining this year’s Lollapalooza, but they will also be releasing their third album, The Suburbs, three days before their first set (August 3).

A product of Montreal, Arcade Fire spent much of their time recording this piece in their hometown, as well as New York and the surrounding areas, with producer Markus Dravs.

To give fans a taste of what their new album will be like, the members of Arcade Fire have posted snippets on the site and just released a limited edition 12″, double A side record featuring the tracks The Suburbs and Month of May. And for the fans that aren’t into the whole retro thing but still want a taste of the album, they can download the tracks immediately upon pre-ordering the album on arcadefire.com.

Arcade Fire is hoping for the same success on this album as they experienced on their past two releases. Their debut album Funeral was featured in Rolling Stone and had a strong following in the Album of the Decade Polls while their 2007 album Neon Bible debuted at number 2 in the United States. Both were lucky enough to even snag nominations as Best Alternative Albums at the Grammy’s.  You can pre-order the album here.
