Sunday night I was a headline whore. I hit Soundgarden (I still don’t fully understand what I was thinking going there), Arcade Fire and even jumped over to the Perry’s stage where Digitalism was performing.
Soundgarden. Where to begin, after thinking it over for a long time, I realized I was only there to see if anyone cared and to see what exactly was going to happen. After the first song I practically ran out of there.
On my way to Arcade Fire I heard something coming from an part of the festival grounds I had yet to ventured into; the Perry’s stage where all the DJ’s where doing their thang.
There was a colossal sized rave where the German duo Digitalism was spinning the tracks. I’m all about a good rave every once and a while, and my friend made it clear that we were going to have to sick around for a while. While letting lose grooving to the music and strobe lights, my mind was blown when they did an amazing mix of Julian Casablanca’s “River of Brake Lights”. Midway through my mind getting blow a child, a SMALL CHILD, came up asking for drugs. This was when I realized that this just were I was suppose to be.
Finally I tricked my friend and got her to go to Arcade Fire (She wanted to buy a CD and I slyly convinced her that the FYE tent would close if we didn’t sprint there). Arcade Fire; Jesus they are fantastic. I really don’t have much more to say, it’s that simple. They are just fantastic. There were just as humble as Phoenix had been the night before while lighting up the north end of the festival.
Sadly, I was forced to skip the encore because my friend wanted to “beat the crowd”… I kind of wanted to beat her.
