As a massive fan of The Grey Album by Danger Mouse, I was obviously excited to hear about a new mashup album that took on an album by The Beatles. Enter The Magical Mystery Chambers by Tom Caruana is an fun album that (pretty) successfully mixes Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambers) and Magical Mystery Tour.
Before you even listen to this album, you pretty much know what to expect. Dirty rhymes by the legendary rappers of Wu Tang and euphoric melodies by The Beatles. Each track brings you back to the 60s, while remaining loyal to Wu Tang. Caruana creatively added sound clips (old TV sound clips, famous interviews with The Beatles, etc.) to make this album a sort-of multi-generational time capsule.
Though some tracks don’t really do The Beatles justice, the album is still great, and a blast to listen to. It’s the type of album you can put on at a party, and people will dig (once they realize what’s going on). Below are a couple of my favorite tracks from Enter The Magical Mystery Chambers.
