Maintaining the synth based roots and spacey vocals that drew us to them initially, Aislyn’s (@aislynmusic) new single, “Spies”, is a clear step forward for the band. Opening with an ominous, mysterious group of instrumental measures, appropriately so given the song title, Sofia Alessandri’s voice slowly begins to croon over the music and layers well with the backing vocal track.
The addition of drummer Joey Sulkowski is clearly marked in the songwriting. Though the track maintains the use of digital beats and percussion, their appearance, particularly towards the end, is mixed with more pronounced natural sounds as well.
