Aimee deBeer’s “Oblivion” is an ethereally haunting dream pop tune that circulates amongst warm synths, diving guitar licks and deBeer’s lilting voice. Swimming demurely in introspection, the song’s lyrics embody an overwhelming sense of longing trapped only by its ambient surroundings. In the video, directed by Gary Breslin, deBeer wades through her own smoky oblivion somewhere between sea and galaxy. Although shots of various body parts in sand, water, and space float in and out, deBeer’s full face is never seen, allowing any viewer to sink into her mystical void as though it were their own. “Oblivion” will be part of deBeer’s debut Strange Fiction EP to be released later this year.
