NIGHT PANTHERS CATCHY NEW SINGLE [FREE MP3]

After jamming to Night Panther’s (@nightpantherusa) tunes, it’s not difficult to understand why they classify themselves as “Sex Pop.” Catchy, Motown-like harmonies, energetic bass lines, and strong beats make resisting the urge to dance almost impossible. Without a hint of self-consciousness, the Pennsylvania duo, consisting of Farzad Houshiarnejad [READ ON]

 CHECK OUT BEAR MOUNTAIN [STREAM]

Bear Mountain (@mybearmountain) originally started out as solo project in Ian Bevis’s bedroom, but friend and collaborator Kyle Statham soon joined to enhance their live shows, where the band simultaneously DJs and performs. While the group is regularly referred to as a duo, Doug Wells and Greg Bevis also perform [READ ON]

Labyrinth Ear (@labyrinthear) is the project of two young kids from London, Tom and Emily, who make some fantastic music. Around a year ago, the duo released their first track, “Amber”, which reached around 452,000 listens on YouTube and garnered a few underground remixes from fellow listeners. Their new song “Urchin”, however, outshines [READ ON]

Im seriously beginning to think there’s something magic in the waters of Scandinavia. That, or crafting fantastic music has become a part of the nordic national curriculum. For a while now, the colder climates of Europe have been leading the charge when it comes to icy cool pop sounds. Sweden’s latest export is Niki and the Dove (@nikiandthedove), a duo [READ ON]

PRINCESS MUSIC FIT FOR ROYALTY [STREAM]

PRINCESS MUSIC FIT FOR ROYALTY [STREAM]

I tend to get frustrated when I hear people talking about how “they just don’t make music like they used to.” Whether these people are referring to the days of Simon & Garfunkel or those of Bach, I’m really not sure, but something [READ ON]

BLAKE MILLS

269 days ago by Alex Munro

During one of his recent stopovers in New York while on tour with Fiona Apple, we had the pleasure of having the very busy Blake Mills down to our Ditmas Park home studio. As a summer storm rolled in, Blake set up with just his acoustic guitar, and blew us away with a fantastic performance of “It’ll All Work Out” and a new song called “Don’t Tell Your Friends About Me”.

The room, which we cleared out save for a vintage General Electric TV, served as a sparse and simple space in which to showcase Blake’s earnest and beautiful songs. The thunderstorm, which I was worried was going to be a major problem, ended up complimenting “It’ll All Work Out” incredibly well. Watch both below and snag the free downloads under the videos.

Like the illustration above? Lisa Ito is an illuzigner (illustrator/designer) working in NYC. A child at heart, she loves cartoons and comics, and those influences find their way into her illustrations and designs. You can take a peek at more of her work on her website and sketchblog.

‘Honey I’m Home’ is a live session series made by The Wild Honey Pie.  With each new episode, we welcome a different band into Sounds Like A Fire home studio in Brooklyn and record intimate versions of two or three songs which are given away for free.

For a festival that tries to be all things for all people, Outside Lands comes pretty close to hitting the mark. Sure, the food is overpriced and for the most part sub-par (although Wine Lands was a very good time), and I’m not entirely sure who found the time to check out the comedy shows, but when it comes to music (which was the point after all), this [READ ON]

Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland (which I learned, makes them “Glaswegian”), five-piece band Olympic Swimmers (@olympicswimmers) are bringing a fresh, clean sound to dream pop. The band’s debut album, No Flags Will Fly, showcases frontwoman Susie Smillie’s light, sweet voice by pairing it with simple folk instrumentation and subtle [READ ON]
