When you go to see your favorite band live, the results can be absolutely devastating. If that band fails to completely blow you away, you’re left questioning what makes them your favorite, as well as why you should ever support them again (i.e. merchandise, actually buying their albums, etc.). This happens all the time, even to bands that are great performers, but have a poor night. [READ ON]

ANDREW BIRD’S NOBLE BEAST [BEST OF 2009]
With #8 on my top 10 albums of 2009 list, I have chosen one of my favorite singers of all time. He’s a multi-talented folk singer that has yet to disappoint me with a mediocre record or poor live performance. He not only plays the guitar, but also the ukulele, banjo, and violin. His most prized instruments, however, would have to be his voice and believe it or not, his ability to whistle. [READ ON]
TAKING BACK SUNDAY
In a year full of amazing new indie artists, it was easy to overlook some of my favorite bands from years past. One such band is Taking Back Sunday, who released their fourth studio album, New Again, back on June 1. I’m not going to lie, I haven’t been as big of a fan since the release of their first two albums, both of which were my high school anthems. Songs like “Cute Without The ‘E’ (Cut From The Team)” and “You’re So Last Summer” from Tell All Your Friends, and “Number Five With A Bullet” and “…Slowdance On The Inside” from Where You Want To Be will forever be ingrained in my head from the countless hours I spent blasting them on max volume in my room. NOVEMBER 27 SONGS
I was trying to go through some of the indie pop music I have the other day when I realized, I have a TON of great pop shit. I’m not ashamed to admit that this form of indie is really fun to listen to, and amazing to see performed live. In fact, one of my favorite bands of all time made happy-go-lucky pop music. The Beatles! Here’s some of the poppiest songs I like from my library. Put your pride aside (that rhymed), and enjoy. [READ ON]
THEM CROOKED VULTURES’ DEBUT ALBUM

The highly anticipated album from Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) has finally arrived. They go under the alias Them Crooked Vultures, and all I can say is wow. This album doesn’t sound like anything I’ve ever listened to before. It’s very clear that each member of the band [READ ON]
NOVEMBER 26 SONGS
As I wrap up my list of favorite albums of 2009, it gets me thinking a lot about what I would have chosen had tWhp been around a year ago. Here are some quality songs that were released in 2008 that are still just as interesting to me as the day they were released. Who knows? Maybe I’ll be able to go back and list my top album of each year of the decade, maybe. This group’s pretty diverse, including pop rap, indie pop, rock, and poppy folk music. Enjoy! [READ ON]
FUN’S AIM AND IGNITE [BEST OF 2009]
With the my selection for the 9th best album of 2009, I have a chosen an American band that released their debut album on my birthday (August 25th). From the copper state (Arizona), this dynamic trio was first created by former frontman of The Format, Nate Ruess. Think you know who it is yet? [READ ON]
ASPEN SAILS
Last week, I went to the Lock Tavern in London to see King Charles perform. Little did I know that I would be treated to four VERY good performances. One of these performances came from a pair of Brits that call themselves Aspen Sails. I wonder if they’ve ever been to Aspen, Colorado? Unimportant. [READ ON]
